Student Senate
The Student Senate is the officially recognized representative of the student body at Inver Hills. It's a great group to be a part of if you want to get involved and to be a leader on campus. Becoming a member is easy! Simply attend two meetings in a row and you'll be inducted as a Senator. The Student Senate works on a wide variety of issues on campus, from developing college policy, to chartering new clubs, to coordinating the voter registration effort. If there is something on campus that you want to discuss with other students, this is the place to do it.
The Student Senate has been recognized on a statewide level for its achievements. Three times over the last 10 years the Senate has been named Student Senate of the Year by the Minnesota State College Student Association(MSCSA). There are 47 separate Student Senates in the MSCSA, so this is a pretty remarkable achievement!
The Student Senate also coordinates a Get Out the Vote campaign every election year that has been very successful. During 2008 Inver Hills registered and pledged more voters than any other two year college in the state. The Senate was recognized for their efforts by the Secretary of State and presented with the Voter Cup.

Student Senate meetings are open to everyone, so please stop by. The meetings take place every Thursday at 2pm in the College Center in Room 290. If you have any other questions the Student Senate office is located on the first floor of the College Center, near the Fresh Stop Cafe.
The leadership opportunities don't end on campus! If you're looking to get involved in statewide higher education issues, being active in the Minnesota State College Student Association is a good way to do it. Every student at Inver Hills is automatically a member. Students from the 47 2-year MnSCU campuses meet monthly to discuss issues that they face on their campus, and ways to strengthen higher education. The goal of the MSCSA is to provide every student with an affordable, accessible, and quality education.
