Desire2Learn (D2L), the Web-based application Inver Hills uses to administer online courses, will put minimal demands on your computer. You can make sure your computer will be able to use D2L by checking its system.
Depending on your course, you may need to install additional software to complete certain assignments or access various multimedia.
An important benefit of taking online classes is your ability to participate on your own schedule. You may find online success more difficult if you plan on using a workplace computer or a lab computer on campus, which could limit your access time. If you don't have a computer of your own, make sure you block out specific times when you know you'll have access to a computer.
Expect to log in to your online course at least three to four times a week to keep up with rapidly changing content, take part in online discussions and complete your assignments. Online learning is a collaborative effort that demands your participation. You can consult with our Admissions Team, a counselor or advisor, or a faculty member to make sure you will be comfortable working in an online environment.
