Counseling & Advising

To better serve our students, the Advising Department is introducing, "10 Minute Quick-Stop Advising".

Quick stop is focused on immediate needs and for issues that can be addressed in less than 10 minutes.

  • Application for Graduation
  • Assistance with changes in current semester schedule
  • Change major
  • Consortium Agreement for Financial Aid
  • Course/Substitution Waiver Form assistance
  • DARS clarification/questions
  • Review of completed appeal prior to submittal
  • Questions/clarification regarding a college policy or letter from college

Additionally, we are still available for 30 minute appointments for questions such as:

  • Academic Concerns
  • Academic Planning for multiple semesters
  • Accommodations for Disability Services
  • Career and/or Major Exploration
  • Financial Aid-max time frame-academic plan
  • Personal Concerns
  • Transfer Questions

Transfer Planning

Need guarantees that your credits will transfer? Discuss your transfer plans with a counselor or advisor to find out if you are on the best academic path. You can learn what colleges and universities are visiting the Inver Hills campus, allowing you to meet with a representative from your intended transfer institution. Visit Transferology and enter your courses to find equivalent courses at other colleges and universities. Matches are ranked by awarded credit, which means you can eliminate guesswork and maximize your transfer potential.

Career Planning

Need help deciding what you want to do with your life? Our counselors and advisors can direct you to resources that will give you the knowledge you need to make an informed decision. If you would like to complete some interest testing, meet with a counselor. You may also choose to enroll in CRDV 1100 – Life Career Planning, 1 credit, offered face to face and online. Do the demands of everyday life sometimes seem overwhelming? Outside pressures can compete for your time and energy, making balancing your obligations and your studies that much more difficult.
