Payment Procedures and Policy

When you register for classes, you must pay tuition or make arrangements to do so by the tuition due dates posted on the Academic Calendar. Your registration will not be withdrawn for the following reasons:

  • The Business Office has received authorization for payment by an outside agency
  • You have applied for financial aid
  • You have entered into a payment plan by the tuition due date

You will be held responsible for all tuition and fees for courses still on your record after the applicable tuition due date. Late fees will be added to your account if tuition is not paid in full by the applicable late-fee deadline posted on the Academic Calendar.

Invoices are not mailed. You must check your account balance online and pay any balance due by the due dates posted on the Academic Calendar. If you are due a refund, contact the Business Office at 651-450-3503 or e-mail the Enrollment Center. See Refunds for more information. You must withdraw from classes within the specified no-obligation withdrawal period to receive a full refund. If you do not withdraw during the no-obligation period, you will face refund penalties.

You are responsible for officially withdrawing from classes you do not plan to attend. Not attending class does not constitute a drop or withdrawal; you will still be registered for the class and may receive an "F" grade. You are still responsible for any tuition, late fees or collection fees associated with that class. Refer to Add, Drop and Withdraw for more information.

Paying tuition

You may pay online via e-Services using a credit or debit card, or your checking account. You can also pay in person at the Enrollment Center on the College Center’s upper level.

Include your student ID number on the check. If you would like to arrange monthly payments, the FACTS Payment Plan is an option.

Late Fee Notice

If your account has an outstanding balance, you will be assessed a $50 late fee starting on the applicable late-fee deadline posted on the Academic Calendar. An invoice that includes this late fee will be sent to you at that time. Payment is due within two weeks. If payment is not received, your account will be sent to the Minnesota Department of Revenue (MnDOR) for collection. MnDOR can be reached at 651-556-3000.

If you have an outstanding tuition balance, you will not be permitted to register in subsequent terms until you make full payment. Your transcript(s) and/or diploma(s) will also not be released.

Other Fees*

Non-sufficient Funds (NSF) Fee

When a check is returned to the college by the bank for non-sufficient funds, account closed or stop payment, a $20 NSF fee will be assessed for each check. This fee applies to checks for college tuition and bookstore charges. The fee may also be charged to NSF payments to your FACTS Payment Plan.

Personal Property Fees

Some courses have special fees; check the course’s description for details.

Seniors Registration Fee

If you are a Minnesota resident aged 62 and older, you may register for courses for a $20 fee per credit hour plus fees on a space-available basis. Registration at this reduced rate begins the second day of classes each semester.

Tuition Refund Policy

Refund checks generally take two to three weeks for process and return. The Enrollment Center uses the effective date of a drop or withdrawal to begin the process. See Refund of Tuition and Fees (MnSCU).
