Where do I go for Peer Tutoring?

Peer Tutoring is located in the Library on the second floor and the tutors’ availability varies based on their schedule. Most tutoring sessions are available Monday – Thursday between 9:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m.; however, evening hours may be available upon request.

The Peer Tutoring Office is open Monday through Thursday: 8:30 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.

How can I get tutored?

Come to the Library Building, enter the 2nd floor Learning Center and check the signs posted with the Peer Tutors’ Hours for the class for which you need assistance. If there is currently a tutor working for the class that you need, look for the tutor’s name card on one of the tutoring tables to locate a specific tutor.

If you have questions or concerns, please contact our office at peertutor@inverhills.edu or loppitz@inverhills.edu. Or call: 651-450-3693.

Who are the tutors?

A peer tutor is a student who has already excelled in the course they tutor. Their instructor has recommended them to be a tutor. The tutors are chosen for their academic and interpersonal skills and then attend regular tutor training sessions.

How does Peer Tutoring work?

  • Before visiting a peer tutor, read your class assignment and do as much of your homework as possible, bringing in specific questions in the areas which are giving you the most trouble.
  • The assistance we offer is personal and practical. It is designed to help you learn how to best use your study time and help you overcome minor obstacles to learning the material and mastering the skills.
