About the Higher Learning Commission

Inver Hills is accredited by the Higher Learning Commission (HLC), an independent corporation founded in 1895 as one of six regional institutional accreditors in the United States. HLC accredits degree-granting post-secondary educational institutions in 19 states in the North Central region, including Minnesota.

Reaffirmation of Accreditation: August 2017

Inver Hills had a reaffirmation of accreditation visit from HLC in April 2017, and in August 2017 received their reaffirmation of accreditation through 2026-27. Inver Hills is on the Open Pathway, with a 10-year accreditation cycle.

Program Accreditation

In addition to our institutional accreditation with HLC, multiple programs at each college have third- party accreditation for their program. This additional layer of accountability provides students assurance that their program is meeting requirements for licensure in specialized fields and/or provides employers with assurance that program graduates possess the required knowledges, skills, and abilities to work in their field post-graduation. Third-party accreditors, like HLC, are seeking evidence that the program is meeting their standards.

The Accounting, Contemporary Business and Contemporary Business Practice programs have been granted full accreditation by the Accreditation Council for Business Schools and Programs (ACBSP).

The Emergency Medical Services program has been awarded national accreditation by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs.
